  • This expedition set out during the summer of 1925 to study the more important outcrops of the lower Paleozoic beds. R. M. Field offered the use of his automobile, which allowed the expedition to move quickly and explore more remote areas. At each destination, local scholars met the group and acted as guides during their stay. The expedition was disbanded in Paris, in August, as the Princeton University members of the team returned for classes. Several hundred pounds of selected fossils were collected and sent to the United States National Museum (USNM). Members of the expedition included Charles Elmer Ressler, USNM Associate Curator of Paleontology; E. O. (Edward Oscar) Ulrich, USNM Associate Curator of Paleontology; R. M. Field, Princeton University; R. M. Fulle, Princeton University; and R. J. Beede, Williams College. The expedition traveled to central England, Wales, the extreme north coast of Scotland, the Scandinavian countries, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Switzerland, and France.
