Summary:

The Smithsonian Community Committee (SCC) was originally formed in 1994 to foster a sense of community during the Smithsonian Institution's 150th anniversary celebration in 1996. The SCC became a permanent part of the Institution in 1997 and was reaffirmed by Secretary Lawrence M. Small in 2001. The committee is made up of a cross-section of staff from the Institution. This accession consists mostly of projects that the SCC sponsored, including various staff contests, Unsung Heroes Program, the Exhibition Awards Program, and events surrounding the 150th anniversary of the Institution. Also included are general information about the committee and its by-laws. Materials include correspondence and memoranda, meeting minutes, photographs, negatives, slides, brochures, and floor plans.
