French-Canadian microbiologist Felix d'Herelle (1873-1949) was co-discoverer of bacteriophages. Back of photo says: "Directuer de Service Bacteriologue de Counseil Santaire, Maritime et Quarantenaire d'Egypte." Photo is c. 1919-1920, when he held this post in Alexandria.
