Ferdinand Graft Brickwedde (1903-1989), who was co-discoverer of deuterium (with Harold C. Urey and George M. Murphy), worked at U.S. National Bureau of Standards from 1920s until 1956, when he became professor of physics and Dean at Pennsylvania State University.
