Summary

Washington, D.C., artist Charles Bittinger (1879-1970) studied at MIT and l'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He worked as a camouflage painter in both world wars and was official artist for the 1937 National Geographic Eclipse Expedition to Canton Island and for Operation Crossroads in 1946.
