This accession consists of the website of the Smithsonian Institution Archives as it existed on April 7, 2010. The site includes information about Archives programs and divisions; collection information; and publications. This accession also includes the websites of the Smithsonian Photographic Services and the Smithsonian Photography Initiative as they existed on the April 7, 2010. Smithsonian Photographic Services became part of the Smithsonian Institution Archives on January 7, 2008. They continued to maintain two websites, one to disseminate policies and exhibit the work of the staff photographers and the other for browsing, downloading, and purchasing images. The Smithsonian Photography Initiative became part of the Smithsonian Institution Archives on March 31, 2009. They continued to maintain their website which brings greater public awareness to the Smithsonian Institution's vast photographic collections; highlights collections, exhibitions, and publications; and presents images contained in collections throughout the entire Smithsonian Institution. They also continued to maintain an additional website, "Click! Photography Changes Everything," a collection of essays and stories by invited contributors and visitors discussing how photography shapes our culture and our lives; and a blog, "The Bigger Picture: Visual Archives and the Smithsonian," an inside look at the Smithsonian Institution's visual archives, inviting audiences to engage in a discussion about their powerful impact on our world. "Click! Photography Changes Everything" stopped accepting new submissions in March 2010. Materials are in electronic format.

The Smithsonian Photographic Services became part of the Smithsonian Institution Archives on January 7, 2008. They continued to maintain two websites, one to disseminate policies and exhibit the work of the staff photographers and the other for browsing, downloading, and purchasing images.
