Summary:

This accession consists of records which document the various aspects of exhibition development, planning, design and publicity for the exhibition, "Champions of American Sport." This was the first major art exhibit devoted to outstanding American sports personalities and to the aesthetic qualities of sport and human movement. It consisted of over 100 photographs, portraits, and sculptures ranging in date from the 1830s to the 1980s. Materials include correspondence and memoranda; permissions; lender files; research files; black-and-white photographs, transparencies, and negatives; color photographs, transparencies, and negatives; exhibition scripts; and brochures. Some materials are in electronic format.

Descriptive Entry

This accession consists of records which document the various aspects of exhibition development, planning, design and publicity for the exhibition, Champions of American Sport. This was the first major art exhibit devoted to outstanding American sports personalities and to the aesthetic qualities of sport and human movement.
