Summary:

This accession consists of records documenting the administration, research, outreach, and programs of the Biodiversity Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project, a bi-national collaborative research project between the Smithsonian Insitution and the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (National Institute for Research in the Amazon) in Brazil to determine the ecological consequences of habitat destruction and fragmentation in the Amazon and to transfer this information to the different sectors of society as a way of fostering conservation and the rational use of forest resources. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, agreements, articles, clippings, planning documents, annual reports, images, pamphlets, maps, architectural drawings, background information, and related materials. Some materials are in electronic format.
