Summary

This accession consists of a resolution passed on February 4, 1992 by the City Council of the District of Columbia declaring February 19, 1992, as "Spirits of the Present Day" in the District of Columbia. This resolution was enacted to celebrate a 13-part documentary radio series entitled, "Spirits of the Present" which presented the story of Native America as told by Native Americans. The series was funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Ford Foundation, the Ruth Mott Fund, and the Smithsonian Institution's Educational Outreach Fund.
