This accession consists of records created and maintained by invertebrate zoologist, Waldo L. Schmitt, documenting his research and collecting trips. Schmitt's chief research interest was crustacea. Collecting trips documented in this accession include the Presidential Cruise of 1938 to the Galapagos Islands as well as trips to Antarctica, Brazil, Chile, Peru, the Bahamas, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Baja California, Oregon, and Washington. Materials include diaries, narratives, and incoming and outgoing correspondence. Also included in this accession is Schmitt's birth certificate and documents related to travel visas.
