This accession consists of plates that Waldo L. Schmitt provided to the Dutch publishing firm, Antiquariaat Junk, which was interested in republishing his M.A. thesis, "The Marine Decapod Crustacea of California." In total there are 33 Schmitt plates plus 7 plates taken from work done by Mary Jane Rathbun, which was published as Bulletin 97 of the United States National Museum.
