Summary:

This accession consists of nine public websites within the domain of the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH). Websites were maintained by the Office of Education, Natural Partners, and the Office of Special Events. Many of these websites existed on the NMNH public web server until June 2005, but there were no direct links to the pages. "National Earth Science Week" presents special offerings, exhibitions, and schedules for the Earth Science Week activities at NMNH for October 10-13, 2000. Consisting of a single webpage, it delivers a description of the different offerings and provides contact information. "Immersion Cinema" was completed in 2002 and direct links to the two web pages were terminated in January 2003. The web pages served as the entryway for the "Immersion Interactive Cinema" web section. "African Voices, Electronic Field Trip" publicized the opening of the exhibition "African Voices" on May 15, 2001. "IMAX Discovery Theater" publicizes the IMAX theater. The website went on-line in 2000. "Smithsonian Science" publicized NMNH's involvement in the 2000 Global Science and Technology Week instituted by President Bill Clinton. It introduces visitors to several Smithsonian scientists and includes a depiction of the proclamation issued from the President's office. "Special Events" is the main website for the Office of Special Events. It went on-line at an unknown date, possibly 2000. "NMNH - Education" is the main website for the Office of Education. It went on-line in 2000. "NMNH - Naturalist Center" is the public website of the Naturalist Center in Leesburg, VA. The Naturalist Center is part of the Office of Education. It went on-line in 2000. "NMNH - Natural Partners Program" is the public website of the Natural Partners Program. It went on-line in 2000.
