Descriptive Entry
These records document the activities of Silvio A. Bedini, Keeper of Rare Books, 1977-1987. Prior to his appointment with the Dibner Library, Silvio A. Bedini held the positions of Assistant Director (1965-1972) and Deputy Director (1972-1978) within the National Museum of History and Technology (NMHT). He accepted the post as Special Assistant to the Director of Smithsonian Institution Libraries (SIL), as Keeper of Rare Books at the Dibner Library, when still a Deputy Director for NMHT. Upon relinquishing his title as Deputy Director in 1978, Bedini remained on the Dibner Library staff another nine years until his retirement. This accession includes photographs, photocopies of articles, personal papers, magazine publications, brochures, correspondence, memoranda, layout drawings of the Dibner Library, newspaper clippings, SIL committee rosters, exhibit project information, and minutes of meetings.
