The James Smithson Society is the means of recognizing the largest donations, cash or objects, made to the Smithsonian Institution. This accession consists of the office records of the James Smithson Society. Materials include correspondence, photographs, brochures, pamphlets, news clippings and the like. The records document membership in the society, income, disbursements, presentations, grants made from fund raised by the society.
