Summary: | This accession consists of records that document the various exhibitions that were shown at the National Portrait Gallery between 1973 and 1988, such as "Return to Albion: Americans in England, 1760-1940," "The Art of Henry Inman", "The Artist's Mother: Portraits and Homages", "Robert Edge Pine: A British Portrait Painter in America, 1784-1788", "Masterpieces from Gripsholm Castle: The Swedish National Portrait Collection," "President Monroe's Message," and "Presidential Inaugural Medals." Materials include correspondence, photographs and negatives of openings of various exhibitions, budget plans, memoranda, newspaper clippings, lender sheets, exhibition scripts and labels and loan agreements with individuals, historical societies, university archives/libraries, and other museums from within and outside the United States. There are also lists of names of lenders of artifacts, documents pertaining to the transportation arrangements for objects, travel vouchers, photocopies of journal and newspaper articles, black and white photographs, color negatives, contact sheets, research notes and exhibition scripts, exhibition pamphlets and brochures, and installation drawings. |
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records that document the various exhibitions that were shown at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) between 1973 and 1988, such as Return to Albion: Americans in England, 1760-1940, The Art of Henry Inman, The Artist's Mother: Portraits and Homages, Robert Edge Pine: A British Portrait Painter in America, 1784-1788, Masterpieces from Gripsholm Castle: The Swedish National Portrait Collection, President Monroe's Message, and Presidential Inaugural Medals.
Materials consist of correspondence, photographs and negatives of openings of various exhibitions, budget plans, memoranda, newspaper clippings, lender sheets, exhibition scripts and labels and loan agreements with individuals, historical societies, university archives/libraries, and other museums from within and outside the United States. There are also lists of names of lenders of artifacts, documents pertaining to the transportation arrangements for objects, travel vouchers, photocopies of journal and newspaper articles, black and white photographs, color negatives, contact sheets, research notes, and exhibition scripts, exhibition pamphlets and brochures, and installation drawings.
