The International Palaeontological Association (IPA) was established in 1933. The aim of IPA is "the collaboration and cooperation of international activity in palaeontology and stratigraphy." This accession consists of files maintained by IPA President A. J. Boucot, 1984-1990; IPA Secretary-General William Albert Oliver, Jr., 1984-1992, with a small amount of material from his predecessors Gerd Ernst Gerold Westermann and H. O. Wallister 1973-1984; and IPA Treasurer Richard E. Grant, 1980-1989. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, reports, financial statements, annual reports, IPA publications, and related materials concerning annual meetings, conferences, and symposia of IPA; IPA publications, including its official journal "Lethaia"; the IPA constitution, membership, and financial status; and its relations with other scientific organizations.
