This accession consists of records that document the publicity generated for several National Portrait Gallery exhibitions from 1982 to 1986. They contain press clippings, press releases, and press kits; photographs and proof sheets of openings and other events associated with exhibitions; memoranda between museum staff, and between the museum and the Smithsonian's central Office of Public Affairs; and correspondence between the museum and magazine editors, program producers, and the staff of other museums.
