Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of the files created by the Office of Exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG) during the development of the exhibition, The First Federal Congress, 1789-1791, which was shown at NPG from March 2 to July 23, 1989.
The records include lender files and lender sheets; general correspondence and memoranda; drafts of the exhibition script and labels; copies of the exhibition proposal; press clippings and publicity; and photographs of the artwork. The files also contain information on the exhibition design and layout, the exhibition budget, and the development of the catalogue and brochure.
