Summary:

This accession consists of files about the American Association of Museums (AAM), International Council of Museums (ICOM), National Academy of Public Affairs (NAPA), and Polar Research Board, all of which document Robert S. Hoffmann's roll as Assistant Secretary for Science. The goal of the AAM is to strengthen and expand the educational role of museums in today's world, while ICOM is created to promote museology and other disciplines related to the management of museums and their activities. NAPA was solely organized to give independant advice and counsel on improving the operation of public organizations. The goal of the Polar Research Board is to establish national policy, priorties, and goals for basic and applied scientific research with respect to the Arctic. Within these files are also Secretary's staff meeting minutes, agendas, board meeting notes, and brochures. There are also numerous write-ups and memoranda about research, progress, and accomplishments.
