Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of records that document the administrative activity of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for the Sciences, the predecessor office to the Assistant Provost for the Sciences, under the direction of Robert Hoffmann. The records chiefly concern the years 1992 and 1993, but records run from 1989 to 1994. Subject files include museums and offices reporting to this office; agencies and organization pertaining to the environmental, biological, and astronomical sciences; Smithsonian projects and informal working groups; and other Smithsonian central administrative offices, especially exchanges with the offices of the other assistant secretaries. The subject files include as well files on foreign countries with Smithsonian research interests.
