Almon Owen English was an amateur ornithologist and member and officer of the Virginia Ornithological Society. This collection consists of records of birds sighted by English in Virginia, 1935-1974; records regarding the Virginia Ornithological Society; correspondence between English and the Virginia ornithologist, Joseph Edward Gould, and his wife, Jessie Gould; English's correspondence concerning the disposition of the Joseph Edward Gould library; and unidentified and miscellaneous materials. Also included are bird notebooks and catalogues of Joseph Edward Gould, 1922-1943, with additional Gould materials dating to 1990.

Descriptive Entry

Almon Owen English was an amateur ornithologist and member and officer of the Virginia Ornithological Society.
