Summary:

This accession consists of audiotapes, transcripts and other materials relating to the "Symposium of the Americas," which was held in Washington, D.C. in September 1991 and brought together more than fifty leading scholars, authors, politicians, and journalists from North, South and Central America. Included are audiotapes of each session, in English and Spanish; copies of the journal REVISTA CANCILLERIA DE SAN CARLOS, January 1992, containing transcripts of each session, in Spanish; and drafts of papers, in English and Spanish. Also included are documents relating to another symposium, "The Poetics and Politics of Representation," held at the Smithsonian Institution in September 1988.

Descriptive Entry
