Finding Aids to Official Records of the Smithsonian Institution Archives
Accession 98-017
National Air and Space Museum. Department of Aeronautics
Program Files, 1964-1994
Descriptive Entry
This accession consists of National Air and Space Museum (NASM) files from 1964 to 1994 about the bequest of Admiral Dewitt Clinton Ramsey and his wife to the Smithsonian Institution for the purpose of supporting the history of U.S. naval aviation. The Ramseys' gift is still manifest today in the Ramsey Fellowship in naval aviation history, the Ramsey Room (the rare books room of the NASM Library), and the Ramsey Building (Building 23 at the Garber Facility). Much of the early correspondence is that of Paul Garber, who was also the Ramsey Fellow from his retirement to his death.
