These records consist of materials created and maintained by Thomas Lawton, Director, 1977-1987, documenting relations between the Sackler family and the Freer Gallery of Art, particularly at the time of Arthur M. Sackler's death. Materials include press statements and releases, correspondence, memoranda, clippings of obituaries for Sackler, biographical information about Sackler, meeting agendas, drafts and a copy of the final donor agreement for the Sackler collection and other agreements concerning the Sackler collection, floor plans for the galleries, lists of objects in the Sackler collection and estimated values, and photocopies of photographs of objects.
