Summary:

This accession consists of materials that document events and programs created and sponsored by the Smithsonian Associates (TSA). Both audio and videotapes are contained in the collection. The bulk of the recordings were made by entities other than the Smithsonian, i.e. CBS and NBC affiliates; and the U.S. Information Agency (USIA) for broadcast purposes. A copy was made and forwarded to the TSA, Office of Public Affairs. A brief synopsis of the activities represented in the collection can be found in the Smithsonian Associate magazine. Additionally, Smithsonian Productions made some of the audiotapes for broadcast over Radio Smithsonian. The events represented in the collection are many and varied including, the annual Kite Festival, film festivals, speakers and interviews; and other program highlights. Materials include audiocassettes and videotapes in the following formats: VHS or 3/4 inch U-Matic.
