Summary

This recording documents the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hirshhorn Musuem and Sculpture Garden on January 8, 1969. Speakers featured on the recording include President Lyndon B. Johnson, Joseph H. Hirshhorn, Secretary S. Dillon Ripley, and Chief Justice Earl Warren. The recording was found by Archives Center staff in the Ella Fitzgerald collection at the National Musuem of American History. This collection is comprised on one 12-inch vinyl disk.
