Finding Aids to Official Records of the Smithsonian Institution Archives
Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. Publications Department
Publications Files, 1977-1994
This accession consists of exhibition catalogues, collection handbooks, and other publications of the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum (CHNDM), which were held as record copies by the Museum's Publications Department. Most of these publications are catalogues of special exhibitions held at the Museum, or handbooks highlighting particular facets of the Museum's collections. Often the handbooks were published to coincide with exhibitions.
The records also include More Than Meets the Eye by Russell Lynes, an illustrated 1981 book about the history and collections of the Museum. In addition, the records contain a book and four tabloid publications from the Immovable Objects exhibition series, and a book of essays from the symposium "The Edge of the Millennium," organized by the CHNDM in 1992.
