This accession consists of the records of Richard J. Nicastro, who has served within the Department of Exhibits as Deputy Assistant Director, 1986-1988; Deputy Assistant Director for Exhibits, 1989; and Deputy Assistant Director for Exhibits and Public Programs, 1990- . Materials consist of correspondence and memoranda pertaining to National Museum of American History (NMAH) exhibit proposals, contracts, renovation projects, design production, conservation, and security; planning for the National Postal History and Philatelic Museum; the closing of the Hart House exhibit; special events at NMAH; financial support from outside the Smithsonian; upgrading the Hall of Armed Forces History; and plans for the exhibit Land of Promise: America in the 19th Century. These records also include FY 1992 budgetary files, information on labels for the exhibit Material World, and drawings of NMAH exhibition floors.
