Summary: | Although an Education Department was not formally established at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum until 1991, these records document educational activities and outreach in the Museum, and were maintained by the newly established Department. These records consist of files on tours and lectures offered by the Cooper-Hewitt Museum from 1976 to 1988. The files contain information such as lists of attendees; correspondence with tour destinations and hosts; tour reservation confirmations; planning information such as brochures, newsletters, press kits, and photocopied articles; and tour/lecture evaluation forms completed by attendees. The files document the tours, "Miami: Tropical Skyline" (March 17-20, 1987), and "Los Angeles: An Architectural Mecca" (March 5-9, 1987), in particular detail. In addition, "Museum Mile," an annual event sponsored by the Museum, is documented from 1980 to 1984. Files on the events include resumes of participants, minutes of planning meetings, financial statements, and promotional materials. |
