Guide to the Smithsonian Archives, 1996
The Smithsonian Office of Educational Research was established in 1983 to investigate and improve ways of learning outside the formal educational system. The office reported to the Assistant Secretary for Science. John H. Falk was appointed director of the office and served until its closure in 1985.
