This accession consists of materials created and maintained by Marjorie Hooker, a Geologist with the United States Geological Survey, containing research on William Thomson. Also included are materials pertaining to Hooker's research and correspondence with others interested in Thomson. The papers contain research on Thomson and his friendship with James Smithson in London and later in Naples. Materials include research notes, copies of abstracts and articles (many of which are in Italian), and correspondence.
