This accession consists of the records of J. Michael Carrigan, Assistant Director for Exhibits, 1982-1989, and Assistant Director for Exhibits and Public Spaces, 1990-1994, in the Department of Exhibits at the National Museum of American History (NMAH). Materials include NMAH Management Committee reports; exhibition proposals and contracts; minutes of meetings; information on special exhibition funding; space at NMAH storage facilities (i.e., Fullerton Industrial Park and Suitland); loans for exhibitions; correspondence and memoranda; storage and exhibition blueprints and drawings; and personnel files. Records also include documentation of the American Festival Project, Oh, Write My Name: American Portraits, Harlem Heroes traveling exhibition show, Japan Music Program, and the Duke Ellington Festival.
