When the Office of the Provost was established in 1995, these records were transferred to that office and maintained by Barbara Schneider, who had served as SEF Program Manager under the Assistant Secretary for the Arts and Humanities and the Assistant Provost. The following year, in 1996, the Provost assumed responsibility for administering the fund, with Schneider serving as Executive Assistant for the Program. The records consist of correspondence and memoranda pertaining to awards, rejections, and budgetary matters. Also included are SEF proposals, program guidelines, funding reports, award schedules, material documenting the annual Smithsonian Exhibition Award Ceremony, and SEF Committee information.
