This accession consists of records documenting the professional activities of Fenner Albert Chace, Zoologist Emeritus, Division of Crustacea, 1965-1998. Papers pertain mostly to his career prior to joining the Smithsonian, his research and fieldwork, writings, and his affiliation with fellow scholars and professional organizations in the field of invertebrate zoology. Some of the material was generated during his tenure at The Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard Univeristy, Cambridge, Massachusetts, prior to his arrival at the Smithsonian in 1949. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, manuscripts, and photographs. Major correspondents include: Horton Holcombe Hobbs, Mary Jane Rathbun, Waldo L. Schmidtt, Alexander Wetmore.
