Consists of records documenting the acquisition, exchange, exhibition, and life histories of certain National Zoological Park animals; animal gifts and exchanges between the National Zoological Park and foreign governments; breeding and births of National Zoological Park animals; and expeditions and trips by National Zoological Park staff to collect and acquire animals during the tenures of William M. Mann, Director, 1925-1956; Theodore H. Reed, Director, 1958-1984; Ernest Pillsbury Walker; and J. Lear Grimmer, Associate Director.
