Guide to the Smithsonian Institution Archives, 1996
The Paper Conservation Laboratory was made possible by a 1978 grant from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. It was intended to provide the Museum with the means of conserving its large volume of paper holdings. The planning and construction of the Laboratory in 1979 and 1980 were carried out under the direction of Konstanze Bachmann, Paper Conservator, and Elaine Evans Dee, Curator of Prints and Drawings.
