  • The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden's Office of Public Affairs is responsible for disseminating information concerning the Hirshhorn's various activities. To this end, it distributes many kinds of publicity, including press kits, news releases, and advertising spots. Target audiences include professional artists and critics, knowledgeable patrons, school children, and casual visitors.
  • Over the years, the Office of Public Affairs has been administered under the Publications and Information Services Department, the Department of Administrative and Museum Support Services, and the Public Programs/Curatorial Department. Sidney Lawrence was hired as the first public affairs staff member as a Museum Specialist (publicity) in 1976.
