Summary

Consists of records documenting the opening of the National Collection of Fine Arts and the National Portrait Gallery in the Patent Office Building in 1968, including event and development files. Some materials date to when the museum was know as the National Gallery of Art. Materials include press kits, photographs of special events, brochures, and programs. These records were previously maintained by the Library and transferred to the Smithsonian Institution Archives.
