Records include correspondence with botanists; colleagues; friends; herbarium curators; directors of arboreta; private collectors of plants; and publishers concerning specimen identification; recommendation of books to be used in the identification of plants; requests for reprints; purchase and acquisition of collections; reference to colleagues and herbaria; history of private collections; personal accounts of daily activities of friends and colleagues; and personal memoranda. Curators represented in these materials include E. C. (Emery Clarence) Leonard, Aid, Assistant and Associate Curator of the Division of Plants, 1918-1947, and Associate Curator of Phanerogams, 1947- 1962. Materials predating 1947 were created by the Division of Plants.
