Consists of correspondence documenting curatorial research and activities in the Department of Botany, and concern the examination, identification, and loan of botanical specimens; nomenclature; collecting expeditions; collaborations with United States and foreign botanists; publications; and other research-related activities. Curators represented in these records include Richard H. Eyde, Jason Richard Swallen, Stanwyn G. Shetler, and Joan W. Nowicke. Materials predating 1947 were created by Swallen while he was employed by the Bureau of Plant Industry, United States Department of Agriculture.
