Summary

  • Photographs document FGA award presentations, exhibition openings, receptions, staff members, and visitors. Special events documented include visits by King Mahendra of Nepal, 1960, and Crown Prince Akihito of Japan, 1965; the 50th anniversary of the FGA in 1973; opening of the Art of the Arab World exhibition, 1975; a memorial reception for Agnes E. Meyer; and the retirement party for Director John A. Pope.
  • FGA staff documented by the photographs include Curators James F. Cahill, Esin Atil, and Richard Ettinghausen; Directors Thomas Lawton, John Ellerton Lodge, Harold P. Stern, and Archibald G.
