Close
PrintThis collection contains manuscript notes, lists, and catalogs concerning mammal specimens. The catalogs are the primary documentation for many of the specimens of the Mammal Section of the Bird and Mammal Laboratories, United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Although they vary in content, as a general rule they contain specimen-related data including catalogs of specimens collected, dates, localities, tag numbers, measurements, and remarks on the specimens. Less frequently, they contain journal entries of the collector describing field activities, affairs of the day, anthropological observations, personal financial accounts, and other personal matters. Some material on bird specimens may also be included. There is also a visitors' register for the Laboratories, 1941-1970. NOTE: These papers are located in the National Museum of Natural History, Bird and Mammal Laboratories.
