Notes

  • Charles Wallace Richmond began this monumental project in the 1890s, and continued working on it until his death. He planned a card catalog of all described species and genera of birds, with names as originally spelled, complete references and dates of publication, type locality, name of collector, present location of type, and any other pertinent data. The catalog is still added to as new species are identified. NOTE: These papers are located in the National Museum of Natural History, Division of Birds.
