Summary

This collection consists of notes on Chalcidoidae, taken by Gahan at European museums. Many of the specimens have since been destroyed by war. NOTE: These papers are located in the National Museum of Natural History, Department of Entomology.

Notes

  • Arthur Burton Gahan (1880-1960) was born and educated in Kansas. In 1904, he became an assistant in the Department of Entomology of the Maryland Agricultural College, where he started his studies of parasitic wasps. He was appointed Assistant Entomologist in the Bureau of Entomology of the United States Department of Agriculture in 1913 and was assigned to the United States National Museum, where he continued his studies and became an authority on chalcid wasps.
