Historical Note
Richard P. Dow (1907- ), an entomologist, received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1935. From 1932 to 1941, he served as Curator of Insects at the Boston Society of Natural History. In 1947, he joined the staff of the Entomological Research Center, Florida Division of Health, where he remained until his retirement in 1972. Dow's research specialty was the taxonomy of Hymenoptera.
Descriptive Entry
These papers consist mostly of correspondence received and written by Richard Dow during graduate school and his tenure at the Boston Society of Natural History. The letters concern his research on the prey of wasps.
