Historical Note
John L. Ridgway was brought to Washington, D.C., to work as a copyist and draughtsman for the United States National Museum by his brother Robert Ridgway, the ornithologist, in the early 1880s. He later joined the United States Geological Survey.
Descriptive Entry
This collection consists of about 200 drawings of birds' eggs done by John L. Ridgway for Spencer F. Baird in 1881 and a list of those drawings.
