Historical Note

Sven M. Gronberger (1866-1916), born and educated in Sweden, moved to the United States and joined the library staff of the Smithsonian in 1907. He published a number of papers on ornithology and had almost completed the requirements for his Ph.D. in zoology and geology at the time of his death.
