The Announcements concern office name changes, reorganizations, personnel title and duty changes, and the appointment of office directors. The Office Memoranda and Special Memoranda detail new policies, rules, and guidelines implemented by the Institution. The Smithsonian Staff Handbooks describe procedures to be followed by Smithsonian employees. Many of these records were created while John G. Motheral was Director of the Office.
