Historical Note

The position of Assistant Director, Resources, was created in 1983 during a reorganization of the National Museum of American Art (NMAA). Charles Robertson, who joined the staff in 1978 as Associate Administrator, served as Assistant Director, Resources, 1983-1984; Assistant Director, Museum Resources, 1985-1986; and Deputy Director, 1986- .
