Summary:

This collection consists of correspondence about the text and proofs for George Brown Goode, editor, "The Smithsonian Institution, 1846-1896: The History of its First Half-Century," Washington, 1897. Goode died before the book was published. The book chronicled the events and achievements of the Institution that were then judged to be significant, including work in research and in the operation of the United States National Museum. The materials contain information about the Smithsonian Institution which does not appear in the book.

This collection consists of correspondence about the text and proofs of George Brown Goode, editor, The Smithsonian Institution, 1846-1896: The History of its First Half-Century, Washington, 1897. Goode died while the book was underway.
